The Nigerian Air Force Aircraftsman, Kalu Bernard Ayomide, who allegedly shot his girlfriend, Air Craft Woman (ACW), Oladipo Dorcas Sholape (A.K.A Shomzy), has been reportedly sentenced to death by hanging.
The deceased, Shomzy(as she is popularly called), was shot dead at the Air Force quarters, Makurdi on March 12, earlier this year after she was suspected of cheating by her 22 year old military boyfriend, popularly known as Lieut. Kal.
Kalu, who has been found guilty of charges leveled against him, has been convicted based on charges of murder, house breaking, attempt to murder one Samuel Onah Echo, failure to perform military duties, disobedient to standing order and loosing service property.
According to www.247nigerianewsupdate.com, the President of the 10-man General Court Martial who handled the case, Group Captain Elisha Bindul, on Tuesday, maintained that the accused was guilty of six of the eight-count charges leveled against him, hence sentenced the convict to death by hanging.
The court however, acquitted the convict of two-count charges of impersonation and misconduct of drinking Izal, with the intention of poisoning himself, on the fact that the prosecution could not prove both charges beyond reasonable doubt.
Earlier this year, ACM Kalu shot his girlfriend, Sholape, who he fondly called “my Military Crush” in a dilemma of what will be termed a heartbreak or love gone sour. He took to his facebook page “Lieut. Kal” before and after the murder to drop hints of why and when he committed the murder before he was arrested.
Abimiku Ewuga of the Ebofuame-Nezam chambers in Makurdi, who is the counsel to the convict, however, said that though the court had delivered its judgment, the decision would be tested at a court with higher jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, the convicted Kalu, after taking his lover’s life wrote a letter of his sad love story. see letter bellow:
